Definitely, the API Pond ACCU Clear is safe for fishes in your aquarium. However, we don’t suggest using it for aquarium tanks. ACCU clear alone cannot ensure clean water. You need good filtration, bacterial bed and water changes too. You need to follow pet specific practices as well to keep the water clean. Pay close attention to the dosing details to avoid a harmful overdose.

  1. Is it possible that use of this product in my 40 gallon aquarium can produce skin redness on my Shubunkin fish? I applied it and in < 12 hours my fish had what appears to be hemorrhaging red on the face area and some on sides. I am honestly trying to understand what is the cause. The tank water is clear and this is not my first time using it nor is it the first time my fish has obtained the rash or what appears as red hemorrhaging.

    1. While it is generally considered safe to use API Pond ACCU-Clear Water Clarifier in aquariums, there have been reports of some fish experiencing skin irritation or redness as a reaction to the product. However, it is important to note that this might not be the sole cause of the issue. Skin redness and hemorrhaging on your Shubunkin fish could be caused by various factors such as water quality, temperature, diet, stress, or even an underlying health condition.
To determine the exact cause and appropriate steps for treatment, it is recommended to consult with an aquatic veterinarian or a local fish expert who can assess the situation in person and provide tailored advice for your specific situation.
